Accuracy of design loads used for the sizing of HVAC systems is of critical importance to sustainable building design. The first challenge of any low energy building is to reduce both the internal and external heat gains and losses to minimize the heat that must be replaced or rejected by mechanical means. To assist with this task loadmodeling.tool is built on the EnergyPlus whole building energy simulation engine. The rigor and power of which is backed by the U.S. Department of Energy via the Building Technologies Office which directly funds development of EnergyPlus.
