AIA Con Ed Session Header Image Template (6)

Course Description:

This course presents architects with the challenge of understanding how a wide array of parameters, including energy, cost, daylight, and glare, can impact a project. In this session, we will cover how to interpret daylighting, glare, and energy reports to drive sustainability initiatives forward and foster better client relationships using clear and actionable insights. The program will include real-world case studies and demonstrate the practical applications of these studies in design.

Course Level: Introductory

Prerequisite Knowledge: None

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understanding Key Design Parameters: Participants will learn about the critical parameters such as energy, cost, daylight, views, and embodied carbon that need to be balanced in modern building design.

  2. Interpreting Results: Attendees will gain insights into interpreting sustainability report results used in shaping the design and details of projects, enabling them to understand the impact of various design choices.

  3. Communicating Findings to Clients: Participants will learn effective strategies for communicating the findings to clients, ensuring that clients understand the benefits and implications of data-driven design decisions.

  4. Exploring Case Studies: Attendees will examine detailed case studies, gaining practical insights into how data-driven design processes are applied in real-world projects, and learning how to convey the narrative of these processes through compelling analysis graphics.
