As businesses reopen during the pandemic, retrofitting buildings as well as outdoor environments to limit the exposure of COVID-19 will be critical. To help architects and engineers address this challenge, cove.tool has developed a new grid-based analysis method that provides a quantitative metric for evaluating floorplan layouts, called COVID Occupancy Assessment Score (COAS).

In this case study, we demonstrate how we used the COVID occupancy assessment tool to plan our office redesign. The tool helped us evaluate three different layouts to achieve the safest furniture arrangement and occupancy rate that could maintain a safe distance between employees.
