Understanding the Impact of Building Design

Buildings account for nearly 40% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Through the use of automated simulation tools for data-driven design, architects, engineers, and contractors around the world are working to reduce carbon emissions in the built environment in an effort to stave off the effects of climate change.

Data-driven workflows and analytical tools make it easier for AEC professionals to incorporate sustainability concerns into their building projects. By comparing data on project trends produced in these tools, we can explore real-time global construction trends and their impact on GHG emissions. This report outlines key building design trends from 12,520 projects in the US and Canada between 1/21-12/21. It also analyzes previous findings from 2020 to provide year-over-year comparison data.
